Through tutorials and ample practice I've created snap-shots and a small bungalow in SketchUp while using the plug-in Light Up. I wanted to create simple shapes and focus on using as many of the tools on the advanced tool bar as possible. Here's what I created: Although this first image was exciting, it was lacking a background, and we are also flying in perspective. However, after playing around with settings! ... I started to get a little closer to the feeling that I wanted this house to have. So I touched up the color, direction of the sun, and added a background. My little 3D house is now grounded and colorful, and the perspective in the photo is from a person's height.

Throughout the semester I packed in learning and stretched my ability to multitask creating a more thorough saturation and understanding of what I need to learn effectively. I’ve learned that I am efficient at time management and excel with clearly defined parameters and goals. I am a creative thinker but am stimulated by positive encouragement by professors. For this next semester I will be diving into acceptance and malleability, but traits are vital in becoming the interior architect I want to become.
Being a member of IDEC I receive the Journal or Interior Design, which I throw myself into. Reading about cross connection between disciplines and how the field is morphing is tantalizing. I was particularly interested in an article named: “Springboards and Barriers to Creative Risk-Taking and Resolve in Undergraduate Interior Design Studios” (pages 17–40). Are there measurable traits that can be traced and maybe even reinvigorated or stimulated? By learning learning styles, people can have more efficient communication in a firm. Although I would love to be the creative output, the need for stimulators to ground the wandering minds creates a productive environment. Saturating my mind with technique and tools, focusing mainly on SketchUp, AutoCAD, 3DMax, and Photoshop I’m taking this break as an opportunity to study without deadlines. To grant myself access to the ever informative lynda.com. Throughout this break I will be posting productive study sessions and work I’ve produced through them. |
